More than an anti spam filter, LivePrism filters message content, provides email storage, and routes messages. LivePrism spam filters make the filtering process easier in five ways:

Spam is the most common problem that comes through email. Unwanted mail, bulk mail, and fraudulent mail are all forms of spam — and they all post risks to your business. Spam can gobble storage space, bandwidth, and server load, making your email system less efficient, as well as opening up your employees to inappropriate content, viruses or spyware, and phishing scams.
There are ways to restrict which email finds its way to users. Spam filters can use spam fingerprinting to try to build a database of known spam messages; incoming messages can then be compared against known spam. A honey pot anti spam filter is a group of fake email addresses, which can be used to attract spam messages; the collected spam can be used for spam fingerprinting. Another route uses access and deny rules to list acceptable and unacceptable domains or IP addresses. Blacklists specify banned domains and IPs; white lists, those that are allowed.
The problem with these kinds of spam filters is how cumbersome they are to implement and maintain. Anti spam filter fingerprinting requires constant updating to keep blocking emerging spam. Black and white anti spam filter lists can require people sending emails to register for approval before they can communicate with your employees and require constant upkeep. Honey pots drain network and storage resources and are ineffective spam filters. |
